Education + Advocacy = Change
The first step to dismantling rape culture is educating yourself about what rape culture is, where it came from, and how it is maintained. This starts with reading, watching, and listening–to the news, to survivors, and to the messages that are embedded in every part of society. A critical examination of the world leads to understanding of what can be changed, and the realization that we can, in fact, change it.
The second step is to advocate, for yourself and for others:
Speak out against rape culture
Share your story
Contact local, state, and national politicians to add your voice
Volunteer you time, your money, and your passion
Rape culture will not disappear until those who actively oppose it outnumber those who actively, or passively, promote it.
